What is Kani weaving?

As brightly coloured wefts pass through every line, they compose the design an artisan selects. it is an intricate process that takes several months. An artisan can do an inch a day, depending on how skilful and devoted he or she is. This leisurely developed and, at times, almost deliberate pace says everything about the dedication, skill and artistry that goes into every Kani shawl.
