Learning the Craft from the Elders
Afroza was initiated into the Pashmina shawl-making business when he was hardly six years old. It is the encouragement of family members which gave birth to this interest. His family members encouraged him and let him apprentice them, thereby learning the family traditions.
With the elders as gurus, Afroza is not spared from everything that deals with the process of Pashmina making. The traditional ways of the fine wool spinning, dyeing the fibers with much care and afterwards weaving them into intricate designs are being taught to him step by step. Though this is extremely taxing for Afroza, his decision to preserve that art goes on to motivate him further.
